Happy June! Hope you enjoy what I loved for the month of May.
For me, I have struggled with finding a good face cream that helps reduce my oily skin, yet give me the moisture I need. While browsing around at Sephora I saw the Counter Balance Mattifying Moisture Crème by Ole Henriksen and decided to give it a go. Below is what the claims are:
Give skin essential hydration with this oil-absorbing moisturizer, formulated with sodium PCA and oat flour to help hydrate while mattifying skin and diminishing the look of pores. Enriched with aloe and its Vitamin Plus Blend™ of vitamins A, C, D, and E, it delivers essential hydration to keep oily complexions in balance for a healthy-looking, matte Ole Glow™. (Sephora Website)
The word “mattifying” when put together with a face lotion is a little daunting! I was hesitant because I thought that maybe it would not give me the moisture I needed and would feel the urge to reapply after a few hours… but luckily that’s not the case. This cream is so soothing, and makes me skin feel refreshed without feeling like an oily mess.
This bronzer has been my go to bronzer for years. It has been hiding in my vanity drawer for quite sometime, but in the month of May I decided to start using it and fell in love with it all over again. Milani’s Baked Bronzer in Glow is the most gorgeous, natural-looking bronzer with a hint of red/blush.
It gives the face a sun-kissed glow and lasts all day. I use my Real Techniques Powder Brush and apply the bronzer to the perimeters of my face, and the tip of my nose.
There is no doubt in my mind that this is one of the best face primers I have ever tried. The Ordinary’s High-Adherence Silicone Primer is great to reduce shine, smooth out fine lines and pores, and have your foundation/makeup last throughout the entire day. I apply this primer every day during my work week and I have noticed that after even 10+ hours of wear, the primer keeps my makeup looking very fresh and put together. If you are curious about The Ordinary brand, I have a blog post on my review of a few of the products from their company.
If you’re looking to be a bronzed-goddess this summer, the Beam Team Hydrate + Glow is for you. I apply after my face primer, and apply foundation on top and it gives a lit from within glow that is perfect for the summer time (or any season!). If i’m not feeling like a full face of makeup, I like to use this product on my cheeks. It looks so natural and leaves my skin glowing without looking too harsh or noticeable.
I don’t use the touch-on shimmer concentrate as much as lotion, but this side is great if you want a little extra pop of color on the cheeks after you’ve applied your foundation. I also like to apply this as an eyeshadow base. I put it on my eyelid, and on top apply an eyeshadow. This helps my shadow last longer throughout the day as well as give it a gorgeous golden undertone.
Do you ever smell something and it brings you back to a certain memory? The Blush scent from Victoria’s Secret does that for me. There was a sale going on at Victoria’s Secret and while I was browsing the fragrances not intending on buying any of it (because i’ll admit it – I wasn’t a fan of them) I stumbled across this one and instantly knew I had to get both the lotion and fragrance mist (it was on sale, in my defense!).
Made you look, made you blush. Crisp grapefruit blossom and magnolia come together in a light mist that’s as flirty as it is fresh. (Victoria’s Secret Website)
This scent is so romantic, sweet – but not too sweet, and lasts throughout the day. I love the smell of fresh magnolias because it reminds me of my childhood and this scent brings me back to those days. I apply the Blush Fragrance Lotion after showering and it leaves my skin so soft, smooth, and the scent last for so long.
I am on my second bottle of this foundation, that HAS to mean something!! I never have repurchased a foundation until I found this one. I apply it with a damp beauty sponge which helps reduce the thickness of the foundation, and it leaves my skin flawless while still looking natural. It does not break apart on me throughout the day and is very photo-friendly. Based off of Ulta’s website on Too Faced Born this Way foundation, they seem to have a larger selection of shades to choose from compared to other foundations that only focus on lighter skin tones. I feel that this foundation would be great for all skin types because it has a satin finish, and with your preference of face lotion, primer, and setting powder it would look flawless!
I love learning about other people’s favorites so that I can give them a go! What were your favorite products for the month of May?
