REVIEW: COVERGIRL VITALIST HEALTHY ELIXIR FOUNDATION

I’ve caved in. YouTube has yet again sucked me into all of the reviews and hype of this foundation so I had to try it out for myself to see what it was all about.

Before Application

Skin Type: Combination with a very oily T-Zone.

My skin has actually been surprisingly very happy with few breakouts. I am using the shade Medium Beige in the Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation .

After Application

Even though I am testing out the foundation, I chose to use my go-to primer The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer since this is what I do prior to any other foundation application. I decided to apply the foundation using the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to one side of my face, and on the other side I used my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush .

Both with the sponge and brush I did not notice a difference in coverage or how the foundation lays on my skin. I personally always prefer using a sponge over a brush just to thin out foundation so after I used the brush to apply to one half of my face I went back in with the sponge to ensure that I did not have any streakiness and it was all even.

The photo above is with the rest of my makeup on. Since I am a very oily gal regardless of what a foundation claims I always set with a setting powder.

I also tried out the Wet n Wild Makeup Stick in Floral Majority to see if a stick product being rubbed onto my face would cause my foundation to come off and luckily it didn’t! Woohoo!

Retailing for $11.99 (Ulta), I think that you are getting a great deal for this foundation. It has covered my redness, dark spots, and blemishes without looking cakey (Erik my boyfriend even confirmed this!) Also I had no issues with the foundation enhancing my pores or fine lines. It does oxidize just a bit but I am honestly kind of okay with that because with initial application it’s a shade too light for me – but of course if you found your perfect shade and it does this it could cause a huge issue.

With Flash

With every new foundation I try I love testing it with flash to see if it’ll look natural. This foundation definitely did not fail this test! I think with or without flash this foundation looks very natural and does not give a white cast.

Pros:
– Affordable
– Easy to blend
– Does not enhance fine lines/pores
– Photo Friendly
– Makeup application not altered.

Cons:
– Fragrance, I did not detail this above but at initial application it has a very floral scent. After about a minute or so this scent does go away and does no linger. Also it has not caused me to break out.
– Oxidizes

Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts on it?
